![]() ![]() When the water sprinkler arrived I was kind of shocked by how large it actually was but I guess the motion sensor takes up a lot of it. At first I was a little skeptical, could this really solve my problem? Well I felt defeated at my past attempts with the garden scarecrow and I was not willing to lose my lawn to these animal intruders so I purchased the scarecrow motion activated sprinkler. My co-worker had the same problem as me and said the motion sensor sprinklers helped him out a lot. Motion activated sprinklers are pretty much, as they say, a motion detector that sprays animals or any moving intruder that comes in a range of the water sprinkler. Not only that, my neighbors were telling me I had my Halloween decorations out too early and I just looked crazy in their eyes so I had to take the garden scarecrows down and try something else.Īfter discussing about my issue at work, one of my co-workers told me to try a motion sensor sprinkler system. I did notice there weren’t anymore birds visiting my yard anymore but that wasn’t my objective. Unfortunately it did not scare off the intruders. I had a few scarecrows in the shed from halloween decorations so I used them. The first thing I tried was to use a garden scarecrow like how farmers use on the farms to scare birds away from the crops. So when I found myself scooping up deer poo from my lawn, backyard, and even porch, I had hit the point where I couldn’t take any more of these deer destroying my yard, so getting rid of them was my top priority. I had tried to do so many different things to get rid of them. I am a type of person who does not own any pets because picking up their crap was the one thing I could not do. The mulch being scattered everywhere was bad enough, but the poop they left all over the place was unbearable. I had some mulch that was placed next to this nice palm tree in my yard, every day I would wake up and find that the mulch was scattered all over the grass. ![]() I knew something had to be done to protect my property from those pesky deer. The problem was animals that were invading my property and doing all sort of damage to my lawn and backyard. P.P.S Sorry, no laser cannon, made you look.A motion activated sprinkler was never on my mind when I lived in an apartment, but after I purchased my first house, I realized that I had a few issues to handle that I never really thought would be as big of a problem. this is my first project of this nature, prior to this I was just following tutorials, so please keep the flames on low Serial.print("motion ended at ") //outputĭigitalWrite(relayPin, HIGH) //if moisture sensor is high energize solenoidĭigitalWrite(relayPin, LOW) //if moisture sensor is low de-energize solenoid a new motion sequence has been detected makes sure this block of code is only executed again after Int moistureState = 0 // variable for reading the moisturePin status Int moisturePin = 4 // designates pin 4 as hygrometer Int relayPin = 8 // designate pin 8 to control the solenoid relay Int pirPin = 7 //the digital pin connected to the PIR sensor's output before we assume all motion has stopped the amount of milliseconds the sensor has to be low the time when the sensor outputs a low impulse the time we give the sensor to calibrate (10-60 secs according to the datasheet) * assuming continuous motion is present during these phases. * This program deals with this issue by ignoring LOW-phases shorter than a given time, * which might give the impression no motion is present. * However, even if motion is present it goes to LOW from time to time, * The sensor's output pin goes to HIGH if motion is present. * The Parallax PIR Sensor is an easy to use digital infrared motion sensor module. * released under a creative commons "Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0" license * Kristian Gohlke / krigoo (_) gmail (_) com / * Determines the beginning and end of continuous motion sequences. * Switches a LED according to the state of the sensors output pin. * //making sense of the Parallax PIR sensor's output I took code for "button" and code for PIR and adapted and melded the two, successfully I hope, it compiles fine, but I have no idea if it'll work like I planned. I want the sprinkler to fire momentarily on motion and to fire when the hygrometer signal is high, so the damn dogs and cats stay away and the area stays as wet as I want. I ordered a parallax PIR, a 12v 3/4" solenoid for the garden hose, an adjustable arduino moisture sensor (high = dry), a 5v relay and a sprinkler with a spike to stick in the ground. Hello, I have an area of my yard I want to keep my cats and dogs out of, I also frequently water this garden area, motion activated sprinklers are like $50.00, so I wanted to build a motion activated sprinkler using an uno board.
